OWAM Officials present a plaque to Mrs. Grappo at the launcging of MEPI Porgramming

On Sunday, December 17, the Omani Women’s Association in Muscat formally launched two MEPI-funded programs: Women in Technology (WIT) and the Personal Status Law Project (a component of the ABA’s Middle East Legal Initiative). On display at the program was the Law Project’s new CD-ROM, which provides interactive information about the Personal Status Law in layperson’s language.

The high-profile ceremony was attended by over 150 OWAM members and others, with Mrs. Grappo as honored guest, key working-level official contacts, prominent women academics, a number of PA program alumnae, and a member of the royal family. In his remarks, the DCM (as Chargé in the Ambassador’s absence) highlighted the importance of partnership in carrying out these projects and other MEPI programming in Oman.
