'Women in Business' Participants Share their Views

Nasra Al Adawi

"Women In Business had not only been inspirational for me, it had provided me with opportunity to interact with many women who came from different line of businesses. When I received the news that I was granted such chance, my number one goal is to try to get out of my normal shell and be bold enough to go to women who I don’t know and ask who are they and try to find out more about them. Believe me this not about women chatting but to begin the process of networking.

The opening of the conference had began with such powerful speaker Liz Jackson, who not only had conquered the world of business and God knows how hard that can be but she was able to excel during the time she was going through challenges of losing her eyesight. It made me realize how often we built mountains for ourselves and that mountain is created only by our fear.

I came out of the conference more inspired and had grabbed more tools in tackling challenges that arises in my line of work. I also acquired more self esteem to reach my new goals. I need to add something over here being a published writer who have worked since 2002 in only fundraising book projects. I now have also learned that I have to step up more to mentor other women so they can reach out their goals in achieving what they dream. I always been shy to stand and talk of my achievement as I just thought it can be translated as parading myself. With Women in Business Conference, now I'm ready to stand up and climb my mountain to launch my book in Tanzania. So I hope you will hear of that soon (Inshallah).

Once again my immense appreciation to the American Embassy and the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) of the US Department of States, I never thought I could get such chance like this."
