MEPI Alumni Work for Change
On February 13 and 14, over 250 MEPI alumni gathered at Jordan’s Dead Sea to discuss civic activism, freedom of press, role of non-government organizations, and women’s empowerment. Participants in the Alumni conference included activists, academics, and students who assembled to share experiences and examine means for working together to strengthen their civic activism collectively, and further contribute to strengthening democracy and human rights in their countries. “MEPI made me think about public service and has changed my life,” MEPI Alumni Dana Sabah told the Jordan Times February 14. Through the creation of the MEPI Alumni Network, MEPI accelerates the work of reformers. As Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said “The people of the Middle East share the desire for freedom.
